Extra Supermarket Labasa FC have taken the early initiative in the Extra Premier League after Round Four, sitting top of the table following a convincing 3–1 victory over Tagimoucia Nadi FC at Subrail Park. The Babasiga Lions now have seven points from three matches and lead Dayal’s Sawmillers Ba FC on goal difference, their +7 margin the best in the competition so far.

Labasa have been the stand-out both offensively and defensively in the opening stages. They have scored eight goals while conceding only one across their three outings, a combination that has produced the superior goal difference that currently separates them from their nearest challengers. The win at Subrail Park extended the side’s unbeaten start and underlined their title credentials early in the campaign.

Ba moved into second place after a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Suva FC at Govind Park, collecting six points and keeping pressure on the league leaders. Defending champions Stratum Construction Rewa FC are level on six points as well, climbing to third following a 2–1 win over Nasinu FC. Lautoka FC round out the top five with five points after settling for a 1–1 draw with Navua FC in Round Four.

The middle of the table is tightly bunched. Suva, Nasinu and Nadi all sit on four points, separated only by goal difference, while Navua also have four points but from four matches. Tailevu Naitasiri joined the points tally for the first time this season after a thrilling 3–3 draw with Coastal Rental Cars Nadroga FC, a result that injected drama into the lower half of the standings.

At the foot of the table, Nadroga remain rooted to the bottom with a solitary point from four matches and have conceded more goals than any other side in the competition so far. That defensive frailty has left them with a steep mountain to climb if they are to avoid an early relegation scrap.

With only a handful of points separating most teams and goal difference already proving decisive, the title race is shaping up to be closely contested as the league progresses. Labasa’s combination of potency in front of goal and defensive solidity gives them the early ascendancy, but several clubs, including Ba and Rewa, are within striking distance and will look to exploit any slip-ups in the rounds ahead.
