EXTRA Supermarket Labasa FC is focused on regaining their momentum in the upcoming match against Tailevu Naitasiri during round 14 of the Digicel Fiji Premier League. Following a disappointing 4-2 defeat to Lautoka in round 13, the team is committed to securing a victory, especially as they play on their home ground.

Head coach Ravneel Pratap expressed optimism about their preparations, despite acknowledging a dip in morale after the loss to Lautoka. “The team faced difficulties playing in their hometown, but they are eager to bounce back and not let down their fans and supporters,” Pratap stated. He noted that the team’s defense had been a significant concern, but they have worked hard to address it throughout the week and feel prepared for the challenge against Tailevu Naitasiri.

Pratap mentioned that three key players—Taniela Waqa, Christopher Wasasala, and Akeimi Ralulu—will be out due to injuries, yet the team remains hopeful. They are relying on the skills and tenacity of their younger players and aspire to deliver a commendable performance against their rivals.

“We understand that Naitasiri will come prepared since they are trying to move out of the relegation zone, and we are striving to climb the league standings,” he added. The coach is looking forward to the home game and is encouraging Labasa fans to come out in support.

Labasa had been closely trailing league leaders Rewa but slipped behind after their recent defeat to Lautoka. Tailevu Naitasiri also finds themselves in need of points as they have seen recent losses place them at the bottom of the standings. Though facing the challenge of playing against Labasa in their home territory, Tailevu Naitasiri knows they have the potential to surprise, as evidenced by their performances throughout the season.

In other matches in the Digicel Fiji Premier League today, Suva will face Nasinu at 3 pm at the Uprising Sports Complex in Pacific Harbour, while Nadi will host Lautoka at 7 pm at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. Two additional matches are scheduled for tomorrow, featuring Rewa against Flowserve Engineering & Pump Supplies Navua FC, and Rooster Chicken Ba FC facing Nadroga.

After 13 rounds, Rewa leads the table with 30 points, followed closely by Labasa with 27 points. Lautoka stands at 22 points with Nadi at 21 points.
