The fervent support of Labasa fans during the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants tournament has earned praise from Fiji Football Association CEO Mohammed Yusuf. As Labasa progresses to face Navua in the semi-finals this Saturday, Yusuf highlighted the admirable enthusiasm shown by fans not only for their local team but also for other competing teams throughout the tournament.

During the initially three days of competition, over 13,000 fans attended matches at Subrail Park, showcasing a vibrant atmosphere as the local crowd cheered on teams such as Lautoka and Nadroga. Yusuf noted, “The fact that the fans enjoyed football and they were supporting some of the younger, smaller teams by cheering for them, which is good.” This sentiment mirrors the collective excitement seen at previous matches that have emphasized community pride in Labasa’s football scene.

Additionally, the tournament engaged fans with interactive halftime activities, further enhancing their overall experience. These activities were carried out in coordination with tournament sponsor Extra Supermarket, providing both fun and engagement during the matches.

The semi-finals will take place this Saturday, with the grand final set for Sunday at Subrail Park, promising an exhilarating weekend for football enthusiasts. With an enthusiastic turnout and community involvement, the Extra Battle of the Giants not only serves as a stage for competitive football but also stands as a beacon for local community spirit and potential for sports tourism in Labasa.

As excitement builds leading into the weekend, the tournament exemplifies the power of sports to unite the community and foster local pride, encouraging a hopeful outlook for the future of football in Fiji.
