After a resounding 7-0 victory over Suva in their opening match, the Labasa women’s football team is gearing up for a challenging face-off against Rewa in their second match of the Fiji FA Women’s Inter-District Championship. Head coach Roneel Ram expressed respect for the Delta Tigress’ strength, citing their lineup of notable players, including national representatives.

Ram acknowledged the skill of Rewa’s squad, particularly highlighting Maria Veronika and Adi Litia Bakaniceva, who have gained international experience playing for Hekari United FC in Papua New Guinea. “I believe the Rewa-Labasa match will be a tough match for us,” Ram stated, emphasizing the challenge posed by Rewa’s talented roster.

In their opening match, Labasa showcased a remarkable performance, with goals scored by Unaisi Tuberi and Aastha Sharma, each contributing two goals, while Sofi Diyalowai added another pair, and Shayal Sindhika netted one. Ram credited the victory to effective teamwork and strong communication, which proved vital following a long break due to the holidays.

Excited and determined, the Labasa team aims to secure another win against Rewa today at 1 PM at the Fiji FA Academy grounds in Vatuwaqa, Suva. With such positive momentum from their first match, fans are hopeful for another successful outing from the Babasiga ladies.
