Labasa Advances to Sanatan World Cup Final After Thrilling Penalty Shootout

Labasa has advanced to the grand final of the Rams Group of Companies 10th Sanatan World Cup following a 4-2 victory over Nadi in a penalty shootout during the second semifinal held at the Blacktown Spartan Sporting Complex in Sydney today.

Nadi, under the guidance of coach Anginesh Prasad and featuring young talents such as Vishant Reddy and Nilkash Prasad, had the upper hand in creating more opportunities during the first half. However, Labasa, benefiting from experienced players including brothers Anish Khem and Ashnil Raju, along with Jasnit Vikash, Matthew and Brian Charitar, Vinal Prasad, and Kirtesh Prasad, capitalized on their experience effectively.

After failing to score in both regulation and extra time, the match proceeded to penalties, where Khem made a crucial save to propel Labasa into the final.

Labasa is set to face Sydney Suva in the final at 4:30 PM. The two teams previously met on the tournament’s opening day, with Sydney Suva emerging victorious by a score of 1-0, thanks to a goal from Nickel Chand.
