Kumuls Set to Clash with Bati in Thrilling Pacific Bowl Showdown

Papua New Guinea Kumuls scrum-half Lachlan Lam expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to face the Vodafone Fiji Bati in the upcoming Pacific Bowl match. In an interview in Suva, Lam acknowledged that the Bati would be considered favorites due to their home ground advantage, but he emphasized the Kumuls’ determination to perform well.

Lam, the son of NRL legend Adrian Lam, who played for the Sydney Roosters and the Queensland Maroons, stated that the Kumuls are focused on securing victory in the match scheduled for Saturday night at HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. He pointed out the quality of the Fiji side, noting the presence of star players like Viliame Kikau and Sunia Turuva, but asserted that these factors do not impact their preparations.

The 26-year-old revealed that he will partner with Kyle Laybutt in the halves and is optimistic about creating scoring opportunities for the team. Lam expressed a strong desire to defend their title, stressing the importance of unity among teammates both on and off the field.

Full-back Nene Macdonald echoed these sentiments, sharing that playing in Fiji has always been a dream for the players. With 16 Tests under his belt for PNG, Macdonald highlighted the team’s aspirations for future success and the importance of building momentum in the coming weeks.

The highly anticipated match kicks off at 8:10 PM, with both teams eager to showcase their skills and contend for the championship title.
