The Kumar family from Nabua is joyfully celebrating Diwali in their newly purchased home for the first time, signifying a hopeful new beginning after years of living in bamboo structures.
Originally from Nasarawaqa in Bua, Vanua Levu, the Kumars have recently made their dream of a concrete home along Sukanaivalu Road a reality, making this year’s Diwali particularly special and filled with gratitude.
Ravinesh Kumar expressed that their new home symbolizes resilience and is a treasured gift. “This home is our Diwali gift. We never thought this day would come, where we could celebrate Diwali in our very own concrete home,” he shared, beaming with happiness at the significance of this milestone.
With great pride, the family has decorated their home with traditional diyas and vibrant rangoli, illuminating the streets of Sukanaivalu Road as a symbol of hope and new beginnings. Sheela Kumar expressed her excitement about their first Diwali in their new residence, wishing everyone joy, happiness, and good health as they celebrate together.
The family anticipates welcoming friends and new neighbors to join them in their celebrations and they feel grateful to be part of the Nabua community. Ravinesh remarked, “This Diwali is all about victory of light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance.”
Sweta Kapoor reflected on missing her brothers, who now live overseas, recalling the last Diwali they celebrated together.
The Kumar family’s journey from bamboo walls to a concrete home serves as a beacon of hope for others, highlighting that brighter days are always possible, regardless of where one starts in life.
This heartwarming celebration is a reminder that the spirit of Diwali transcends physical spaces, ushering in hope and togetherness, and reinforcing the importance of community and resilience.
