Digicel Fiji Football team captain Roy Krishna will miss the opening match of the FIFA International “A” Friendlies Tri-Nations Series against the Solomon Islands next week. The match is set for September 2 at 7 PM at HFC Bank Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva.
After this game, the Solomon Islands will compete against Hong Kong-China on September 5 at the same location, while Fiji’s final match is scheduled against Hong Kong-China on September 8 at 3 PM at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Bula Boys team manager Kartik Reddy noted that the team is currently in its second week of training under head coach Rob Sherman. With 26 players in the camp, which includes the newly added New Zealand-based utility player Samuela Kautoga from Rewa, the team is concentrating on areas like strength, conditioning, tactics, and technical skills with two practice sessions each day.
Reddy mentioned that the final squad will be announced this week before the team relocates its camp to Suva. He added, “Four players will be dropped from the squad, which will be decided by the coach this week.” Reddy also confirmed that captain Roy Krishna will not participate in the match against the Solomon Islands but is anticipated to rejoin the team for the game against Hong Kong-China.
