Krishna to Miss Key Opening Match as Fiji Faces Solomon Islands

Digicel Fiji Football team captain Roy Krishna will not participate in the opening match of the FIFA International “A” Friendlies Tri-Nations Series against the Solomon Islands scheduled for next week. This match will take place on September 2, at 7 PM at HFC Bank Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva.

Subsequently, the Solomon Islands will compete against Hong Kong-China on September 5 at the same location, while Fiji’s last match will be against Hong Kong-China on September 8 at 3 PM at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Team manager Kartik Reddy mentioned that the players are currently in their second week of preparations under the direction of head coach Rob Sherman. The team consists of 26 players, including the recent addition of New Zealand-based Rewa’s utility player Samuela Kautoga. They are focusing on improving their strength, conditioning, tactical, and technical skills through two training sessions each day.

Reddy confirmed that the final squad will be announced this week before the team relocates its camp to Suva. He noted, “Four players will be excluded from the squad, which will be decided by the coach this week.”

Roy Krishna is expected to rejoin the team for the match against Hong Kong-China after missing the opener against the Solomon Islands.
