The Koroi family is set to cherish the year 2024 after their eldest son, Tevita Tucaketale Koroi, was honored with the prestigious Dux award at Queen Victoria School this past Friday. At just 18 years old, Tevita credits this significant achievement to the unwavering support and sacrifices of his parents, who have always encouraged him to work hard.
“Mom and dad are my inspiration; they have made countless sacrifices for me, which fuels my determination,” Tevita shared. He highlighted his deep gratitude, saying, “I’ve been looking forward to this day. I thank the Lord for this achievement as I had been fasting and praying for it every day, and it’s finally paid off.”
Tevita, hailing from Raviravi in Matuku Lau and with maternal ties to Nakasaleka in Kadavu, is the eldest of six siblings. He began his high school journey at Natabua High School in Lautoka before moving to QVS. Reflecting on the challenges he faced during his year at Queen Victoria School, he expressed thankfulness for overcoming them and achieving success.
His mother, Ravi Drodro Koroi, was overwhelmed with emotion as she praised God for the blessings that have come their way. “We are a family that moves together, and having our son attend QVS was a significant challenge for us, especially for me. However, we thank God that through our decision, he has accomplished more than we ever dreamed possible,” she said.
The Koroi family is a testament to the power of faith, hard work, and communal support. Tevita concluded with words of encouragement for his peers, emphasizing the importance of time management, prioritizing wisely, and remaining dedicated to one’s spiritual path for achieving success.
This uplifting story serves as a reminder of how family support and perseverance in the face of challenges can lead to remarkable achievements and serve as an inspiration for others.
