The Koroi family is celebrating a significant achievement as their eldest son, Tevita Tucaketale Koroi, was honored with the Dux award at Queen Victoria School for the year 2024. This recognition is not just a personal milestone for the 18-year-old student, but also a heartfelt tribute to the dedication and sacrifices made by his parents in fostering his education.
Tevita expressed profound gratitude for his family’s support, stating that his parents are his greatest inspiration. “Mom and dad are my inspiration; they’ve sacrificed a lot for me,” he remarked, attributing his hard work to the efforts they put in for him and his siblings. His journey culminated in this accolade after months of dedicated preparation, including fasting in hopes of achieving this goal.
Hailing from Raviravi, Matuku Lau, with maternal ties to Nakasaleka, Kadavu, Tevita is the eldest of six siblings and began his high school education at Natabua High School in Lautoka before transferring to Queen Victoria School. Despite facing challenges throughout his year at QVS, he is thankful for the accomplishments he has achieved.
Tevita’s mother, Ravi Drodro Koroi, was visibly emotional during the celebration, expressing her gratitude to God for guiding her son on this path. She acknowledged that having Tevita transition to QVS was daunting, yet it led to achievements beyond their dreams. “We want to thank God for this moment and glory and honor goes to Him alone,” she stated.
As Tevita reflects on his journey, he encourages other students to prioritize time management and faith, emphasizing that these elements are crucial for success.
This story serves as a reminder of the power of perseverance and the strong support of family in achieving one’s dreams. It highlights a bright future for Tevita and perhaps serves as an inspiration to many other young students to pursue their goals with determination and commitment.
