The year 2024 will hold a special significance for the Koroi family as their eldest son, Tevita Tucaketale Koroi, recently received the prestigious Dux award at the Queen Victoria School. This recognition is not only a personal triumph for the 18-year-old student, it also serves as a heartfelt tribute to his parents, who have tirelessly supported and nurtured him throughout his education.
Tevita expressed deep gratitude towards his parents, acknowledging their sacrifices that propelled him to work diligently for his success. “Mom and dad are my inspiration. They’ve sacrificed so much for my siblings and me,” he said. His achievement is also a testament to his faith and dedication, as he mentioned fasting daily in gratitude for the opportunity, culminating in this rewarding moment.
Originating from Raviravi, Matuku Lau and with maternal ties to Nakasaleka, Kadavu, Tevita is the eldest of six siblings and started his high school journey at Natabua High School in Lautoka before transferring to Queen Victoria School. Reflecting on his year at the institution, he recounted the various challenges but remained thankful for his accomplishments.
His mother, Ravi Drodro Koroi, could not contain her emotions and thanked God for guiding her son’s journey. “We are a family that moves together, so having our son come to QVS was a bit challenging for us, but we thank God for the achievements we never thought possible,” she expressed. With humility and gratitude, she emphasized that their success is a collective blessing, attributing it all to divine guidance.
Tevita also shared valuable insights for his peers, highlighting the importance of time management, prioritization, and faith as essential components to achieving one’s goals.
