The Koroi family is set to have a remarkable year in 2024 after their eldest son, Tevita Tucaketale Koroi, was awarded the prestigious Queen Victoria School Dux award last Friday. The 18-year-old student expressed his deep gratitude to his parents, who have consistently dedicated their time and effort to nurture him, fostering his success.
Mr. Koroi credited his parents as his primary inspiration, acknowledging their sacrifices and hard work for him and his five siblings. “Mom and dad are my inspiration; they’ve been sacrificing a lot for me, which motivates me to work hard,” he shared. He emphasized the importance of faith in his journey, mentioning that he had been praying and fasting for this achievement, which has now materialized.
Tevita hails from Raviravi, Matuku Lau, and has maternal ties to Nakasaleka, Kadavu. He spent his initial three years at Natabua High School in Lautoka before transitioning to Queen Victoria School. Despite facing numerous challenges during his year at QVS, he expressed gratitude for his accomplishments.
Emotional over her son’s achievement, his mother, Ravi Drodro Koroi, expressed her thankful heart, attributing their family’s success to divine guidance. “We are a family that moves together, so having our son come to QVS was challenging for us, especially me. But we thank God for his achievements,” she said, celebrating the milestones they never anticipated.
Tevita also shared valuable advice for other students on balancing schoolwork, extracurricular activities, and life in the hostel. He emphasized that effective time management, establishing priorities, and serving God are vital components of achieving success.
This story not only highlights Tevita’s academic accomplishments but also exemplifies the importance of family support, faith, and resilience. Such achievements can inspire other students to pursue their goals with determination and the belief that hard work, coupled with a supportive environment, can lead to extraordinary outcomes.
