A financial service provider in Suva has stepped up to support a local family in need, providing a $5,000 contribution toward the medical treatment of 13-year-old Giya Geetanjali Prasad. Giya urgently requires amniotic membrane grafting in both eyes, and her family’s efforts to raise funds for her treatment in India received a significant boost from Kontiki Finance Limited.
Leeanne Dalton, the human resources manager at Kontiki Finance, expressed the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility. After reading Giya’s story in The Fiji Times, they felt compelled to help. “We thought this is something small we could contribute towards her treatment in India,” Ms. Dalton stated. She added, “We wish Giya well and a speedy full recovery; that’s all we are looking for.”
Grateful for the assistance, Giya’s mother, Evlin Ashika Devi, thanked Kontiki Finance and everyone who had supported their family during this challenging time. “Thank you so much Kontiki Finance for assisting us for our daughter’s treatment in India,” Ms. Devi said, expressing her appreciation for the financial aid.
Preparations are currently underway for Giya’s journey to India, with plans for her flight set for January 25. Her mother mentioned that they are busy packing necessary items, including reports and clothing. Ms. Devi also extended her gratitude to everyone who helped raise funds for Giya’s treatment.
This act of kindness is a testament to community support in times of need, highlighting the difference that corporate contributions can make in individuals’ lives. With continued assistance, there is hope that Giya will soon receive the treatment she needs for a brighter future.
