Fiji Airways has confirmed that Osea Kolinisau will remain the national men’s 7s coach for the next four years. The announcement was made by Fiji Rugby Union chair Peter Mazey during a press conference in Suva.

Mazey indicated that a comprehensive review of the 7s tournaments had taken place, involving discussions with team captains, managers, and coaches Kolinisau and Saiasi Fuli. After these consultations, and allowing Kolinisau time to confer with his family, the trustees decided to extend his role as head coach.

“Osea’s remarkable performance over the last four months has proven his capabilities and vision for the future,” said Mazey. He noted that Kolinisau has significant plans ahead, which will be revealed in due time.

The Fiji Rugby Union expresses enthusiasm for the potential of the Men’s Sevens Team under Kolinisau’s continued leadership and is committed to achieving gold at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

Regarding the women’s coaching position, it was revealed that Saiasi Fuli’s contract as head coach of the Fiji Airways Fijiana team will end in December 2024. After discussions, it was decided to advertise the position to identify the best candidate to guide the women’s team into its next phase.

The Fiji Rugby Union expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the Paris 2024 Rugby 7s competition, acknowledging the dedication of the coach, players, and staff as key to the event’s achievements. Their focus is now on the exciting journey ahead and the ongoing pursuit of excellence on the global stage.
