Fiji Airways Fiji 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau has clarified that his team’s recent performance at the Perth 7s tournament was not a result of fatigue. Reflecting on their fifth-place finish, Kolinisau emphasized that the national side’s shortcomings were due to inconsistencies in executing opportunities rather than exhaustion.

The Fiji 7s squad had a brief turnaround after clinching the Coral Coast 7s title just five days before the Perth event. While many rugby enthusiasts speculated that fatigue played a role in their performance, Kolinisau firmly disagreed. “We didn’t lose because of fatigue,” he stated, pointing out that shortcomings were identified in specific areas of the game.

Kolinisau also noted the benefits of participating in the Coral Coast 7s, highlighting its importance for team development and brand building for Fijian rugby. Despite the challenges, Fiji remains competitive, currently tied for first place with Argentina and Spain in the HSBC World Rugby SVNS Series standings, each having amassed 48 points.

This insight into Kolinisau’s perspective serves to reinforce the resilience and potential of the Fiji 7s team. While they faced challenges in Perth, their focus on improvement and dedication to their craft signals a positive outlook for future tournaments. As the team aims to refine their execution on the field, fans can remain hopeful for their continued success in the series.
