Fiji Men’s National 7s head coach Osea Kolinisau has expressed pride in Ponipate Loganimasi for his recent inclusion in the Fijian Drua team. Kolinisau underscores the significance of player development and seizing opportunities as they arise.

Loganimasi, renowned for his speed on the field, will join his teammates from the Paris Olympics, Iosefo Masi and Selestino Ravutaumada, in the Drua Men’s squad for the forthcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season.

In his first appearance for the national 15s team, Loganimasi made an impressive debut, scoring two tries in the Pacific Nations Cup final against Japan. He stepped up for the Flying Fijians after Ravutaumada was sidelined due to injury during the tournament’s opening round.

Kolinisau expressed his satisfaction with Loganimasi’s journey, aspiring for all his players to follow a similar trajectory from 7s to 15s rugby. He stated, “I’m happy with Loganimasi joining the Drua; that’s what we want – progression, just come and play in 7s and progress into 15s.”

He believes that moving to the 15s game is advantageous for players, offering both skill enhancement and financial benefits. “Great progress because obviously that’s where the money is at, so I’m happy for Poni and I wish him all the best in his season with the Drua and his future goals.”
