Fiji Rugby is poised for substantial transformation as Koli Sewabu, the new Chief Executive Officer, lays out his ambitious vision for the future of the sport. Having spent the past six months in an acting leadership capacity, Sewabu has gained crucial insights into the inner workings of the rugby union, preparing to implement new initiatives that are expected to take shape in the upcoming year.

There is a palpable sense of optimism among stakeholders, who believe these forthcoming changes will significantly enhance both grassroots and professional rugby in Fiji. Sewabu emphasized the cultural significance of rugby in the nation, stating, “Fiji Rugby carries the hope of a nation. Every tackle, every pass, every critique, every triumphant song reflects the spirit of our people. That is why we must lead with clear purpose, a united vision, and shared goals. We are not merely managing a sport; we are stewards of a national symbol.”

He further reflected on his tenure thus far, pointing out essential areas needing urgent focus. Sewabu stated, “Change is coming as we enter a new era. We will build on what we have, work together, and take Fiji Rugby to the next level. My mission is to create a lasting legacy for the next generation, and that cannot be done alone.”

Supporting this vision, Fiji Rugby board chair John Sanday emphasized the commitment to strategic development and transparent governance. The board also aims to establish sustainable pathways for players and coaches to ensure Fiji remains a competitive force on the international stage while nurturing emerging talent at the grassroots level.

The future looks promising for Fiji Rugby as it embarks on this journey of revitalization and growth, fostering not just the sport but a profound sense of national pride and unity.
