Healthcare services at the Raiwaqa Health Centre have received a significant enhancement with the recent handover of medical equipment and furniture by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). This development underscores the robust partnership between Fiji and the Republic of Korea aimed at bolstering community healthcare services.
During the handover ceremony, Assistant Minister for Health Penioni Ravunawa recognized KOICA’s unwavering support, emphasizing that such collaborations are crucial in addressing the essential gaps within Fiji’s healthcare system. He articulated the importance of collective efforts involving the government, development partners, health professionals, and local communities to strengthen the health infrastructure.
KOICA’s representative in Fiji, Director Hankyulsam Cho, echoed these sentiments, highlighting that this assistance demonstrates a mutual commitment to sustainable development and honors the dedication of frontline health workers. “It represents a shared commitment to improving frontline healthcare delivery and strengthening health systems to ensure that communities have access to safe, efficient, and quality healthcare services,” Cho stated.
The Ministry of Health emphasized that development partnerships are pivotal in enhancing primary healthcare services and improving access to quality medical care for all communities in Fiji. This collaboration not only benefits local health facilities but also aligns with global efforts to achieve better health outcomes for underserved populations. Through such initiatives, the future of healthcare in Fiji looks hopeful and poised for growth.
