Kiwis and Fijians Unite for Tourism’s Bright Future

New Zealand companies participating in the upcoming 2024 Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association’s HOTEC Trade Show have been carefully chosen for their dedication to delivering high-quality products and services in collaboration with Fijian suppliers. The four companies—Green Meadows Beef, Pals, Mercer Mushrooms, and the NZ Avocado collective, along with Magic Memories—will present their offerings at the “Made with Care” pavilion.

During a reception in Suva ahead of the expo in Denarau, David Dewar, New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner to the Pacific, emphasized the companies’ commitment to collaborating with the Fijian industry to ensure the success of the tourism sector. Dewar expressed admiration for Fiji’s tourism achievements, noting its remarkable recovery from COVID-19, which has reinstated the nation as a sought-after destination for travelers from Australia, New Zealand, and beyond.

He highlighted the importance of Fiji’s hospitality, stating, “We know that tourists choose Fiji for its people,” and credited the local efforts in providing the renowned warm welcome that Fiji is known for. Furthermore, he noted that premium travelers are increasingly seeking high-quality products that complement their experiences.

Dewar stated, “Our ‘Made With Care’ campaign is built on three core values: ‘Kaitiakitanga’—caring for people, place, and planet; ‘Manaakitanga’—showing kindness and respect; and ‘Ingenuity’—embracing bold solutions.” He expressed pride in showcasing four exemplary New Zealand companies at HOTEC, which represent these values.

New Zealand has been a strong supporter of the event, with New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) serving as the gold sponsor for the two-day expo.
