Kiti Temo, currently serving as the Official Secretary for the Office of the President, is expected to take on the role of Chief of Protocol within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This transition follows the advertisement of her current position by the Office of the President in local media over the weekend.

Temo has been in her role as Official Secretary since the presidency of Jioji Konrote. The Official Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring that all advice given to the President is in line with Fiji’s Constitution. The new incumbent will be responsible for coordinating closely with the Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers, working alongside their Permanent Secretaries to ensure both the accuracy and constitutional adherence of the advice presented to the President.

As the Head of Department, the Official Secretary is tasked with overseeing the daily functions of the Office of the President, ensuring operations run effectively and remain within legal parameters.

The job advertisement highlighted the importance of public service values as outlined in the Fijian Constitution, emphasizing the need for a strong moral character and integrity. Only Fijian citizens under the age of 60 are eligible to apply for this vital role.

This potential transition signifies a significant step for Temo and a continued commitment to maintaining constitutional integrity within Fiji’s governance. The focus on ethical leadership and public service values inspires hope for a transparent and effective administration moving forward.
