The Heartland Sisters netball team from Kinoya kicked off the Central Community Games on a high note, achieving a commendable victory against Caubati with a score of 15-9. The match, held at the National Netball Centre in Laucala, highlighted the team’s determination and skill as they adeptly outperformed their opponents.
Team manager Eleni Kataduadua praised the girls for their remarkable on-court performance, emphasizing their hard work and commitment that ultimately led to their win. “The girls really did well on the court. We had less time to form the team, but I’m thankful for the girls for their hard work in getting the win,” Kataduadua remarked.
Featuring a roster of young players, Kataduadua underscored the significance of providing these athletes with opportunities to grow and develop. She believes that participating in events like the Central Community Games will not only enhance their skills but could also pave the way for future national team selections. “We have a young side; it’s all about learning and growing. With a young team, we need to get them exposed, and maybe one day they will wear the national jersey and represent the country,” she stated.
Despite Caubati’s fierce competition, the Heartland Sisters remained steadfast and focused throughout the match. Kataduadua acknowledged the pressures they faced but praised her team’s composure and ability to clinch the victory.
