Police have launched an investigation after an alleged break-in at the office of the Assemblies of God church in Kinoya was discovered and reported to Valelevu Police Station shortly after 9am today. A senior official at the church made the discovery and alerted authorities, prompting an immediate response from specialist units.

Officers from the K9 Unit and the Crime Scene Investigations team attended the scene to carry out forensic examinations and gather evidence. Investigators have begun house-to-house inquiries in the neighbourhood as part of efforts to establish what happened, identify any suspects and determine whether anything was taken or damaged during the incident.

As part of the ongoing probe, police are also reviewing available CCTV footage from the surrounding area to trace movements leading up to and following the break-in. Sources say scene investigators conducted an initial sweep of the church office and its immediate environs, while K9 officers assisted with scent tracking at the site.

The Valelevu-led inquiry into the Kinoya incident comes amid a spate of sacrilege and break-in reports at places of worship around the country in recent months. Police attention to those cases has included similar combinations of local inquiries, forensic work and scrutiny of camera footage, reflecting growing concern about the security of religious sites and the communities they serve.

Authorities have not released details on any items reported missing, nor have they announced arrests. The investigation is described by police as active and continuing, with follow-up enquiries and analysis of collected evidence under way.

This latest development will be closely watched by church leaders and nearby residents after a number of comparable incidents in the wider region have heightened local unease. Police say their inquiries will determine whether the Kinoya break-in is linked to other recent sacrilege cases and pledged to progress the investigation as new information emerges.
