The Kings Road is now accessible for vehicles, as announced by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA). The announcement comes after floodwaters have receded, ensuring safer travel.
The FRA advises motorists to exercise extreme caution during heavy rain. Recommendations include significantly reducing speed, increasing the distance from the vehicle ahead, and using low-beam headlights to enhance visibility for all drivers.
Although the Kings Road is open, certain sections may experience single-lane traffic due to surface flooding. A flash flood warning is still in effect for low-lying and flood-prone areas, particularly in the Western and Northern divisions of Fiji. Areas such as Sigatoka, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, and Rakiraki remain heavily affected by water.
It is essential for drivers to stay updated on road conditions and heed warnings to ensure their safety. While the clearing of the Kings Road marks a positive step towards normalcy, ongoing vigilance in affected areas is crucial as recovery efforts continue.
