“Key Figures Return to Lead FRCS Board”

Former chief executive officer of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS), Jitoko Tikolevu, has been appointed as a new board director. FRCS announced his appointment alongside that of chartered accountant Nitin Gandhi, the former managing partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers.

FRCS chief executive officer Udit Singh stated, “The new board of directors bring valuable expertise and perspectives that will help provide effective strategic direction and oversight to FRCS. Their diverse talent and expertise will bolster the strength and impact of our board and enhance our ability to achieve our strategic objectives as we strive to be a world-class revenue service, excelling in revenue collection, border protection, trade and travel facilitation.”

Jitoko Tikolevu previously served as Fiji High Commissioner to the United Kingdom from 2016 to 2023 and was a board member of Investment Fiji and the Fiji Development Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Studies from the University of the South Pacific and a Masters in Taxation degree from the University of Auckland.

Nitin Gandhi, a fellow of the Australia and New Zealand Chartered Accountants, has also served as president of the Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants, an accredited mediator, former president of the Fiji Red Cross Society, and is currently a member of the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) Audit and Risk Commission in Geneva. With over 38 years of experience, he has provided professional services in assurance, taxation, and advisory across multiple industries including tourism, aviation, energy, manufacturing, retail, agriculture, and financial services.

Upon accepting the appointment as FRCS board director, Gandhi acknowledged the challenges facing FRCS in its reforms and administrative systems. He emphasized the importance of embracing globalization and digitalization, stating, “Modernizing tax compliance and developing systems accordingly would be key to the economic development of the country.”
