Opposition Member of Parliament Ketan Lal has clarified his stance regarding the recent announcement of a new political party led by Inia Seruiratu. Lal, a former member of the Fiji First party, emphasized that he is not involved in the formation of this new political entity and respects the choices of his fellow Independent Members of Parliament to explore new political paths.

“I am not involved in the formation of this new political party, and I am not a part of it,” Lal stated, reinforcing his commitment to the G16 Parliamentary Opposition group. He expressed the significance of maintaining accountability within the government, which he views as a primary concern. “Accountability is of utmost importance to me and remains my primary consideration,” he added.

Despite the changes in the political landscape following the deregistration of the Fiji First party, Lal remains dedicated to serving as an Independent MP. He has consistently rejected any speculation about aligning with current political parties, emphasizing that his only priority is to uphold the voice of the people and ensure rigorous government oversight.

This development highlights a hopeful narrative in Fijian politics, where independent voices like Lal’s continue to champion accountability and integrity. Even as political affiliations shift, his steadfast dedication serves as a reminder of the importance of independent representation in maintaining democratic values.

In summary, Ketan Lal remains committed to his role as an Independent MP, focusing on government accountability and rejecting any speculation about joining new political alliances. His position underscores the importance of transparency and independent voices in the evolving political landscape of Fiji.
