Samu Kerevi, the robust centre, is set to make his comeback as he has been named in the Wallabies squad for their Northern Tour. After taking a break from international rugby, Kerevi is eager to don the gold jersey once again.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Kerevi stated, “It’s awesome to be back in the squad. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be back. It’s pretty exciting times for the Wallabies.” Despite not having much game time since the team’s last matches in May, he is ready to ease himself back into competitive play, recently participating in a trial match to prepare for this week’s challenges.
Although he has been playing in Japan, Kerevi is confident in his understanding of what is required at the Test level, particularly for their upcoming match against England. “Since being in Japan, there’s been a lot of conversations like that, it’s always been the same. ‘The Japan league is this, the Japan league is that’ … but internally, I know what it takes to be here at Test level,” he explained.
With over 40 Test caps to his name, Kerevi is familiar with the demands of international competition, both physically and mentally. The Wallabies will kick off their campaign against England at Allianz Stadium in London on Sunday at 3:10 AM, marking a significant moment for Kerevi and the team.
This marks a hopeful return for Kerevi, bringing experience and tenacity to the Wallabies as they aim for success in their upcoming matches. His journey back to the international stage is a testament to perseverance and a positive outlook for Australian rugby as they face formidable opponents.
