Kelevi Natokalau’s AFL Dream: The Journey to Represent Fiji

Kelevi Natokalau, a 27-year-old, is on the verge of fulfilling his dream of representing Fiji in the Australian Football League (AFL). Natokalau is gearing up for the Fiji team trials, set to be held next week at Albert Park, with the ultimate goal of competing in the Oceania Cup this December. Hailing from Burewai Nakorotubu in Ra, Kelevi’s AFL journey commenced in 2015 when he first discovered the sport through social media and advertisements.

Growing up in Fiji and later relocating to the United Kingdom, Kelevi deepened his connection with AFL by joining the UK’s Bosten Pirates club. Now back in Fiji, he aims to secure a spot on the national team.

“I’ve always loved AFL and wanted to play for Fiji. I started playing in school in Fiji, then later moved to the UK where I managed to join Bosten Pirates,” said Natokalau. “Now, I’m back in Fiji and ready to show my skills in the trials for the national team. My dream is to make my family proud and wear the white jersey on the international stage.”

Acknowledging the stiff competition, Kelevi is prepared to give his utmost effort to represent Fiji in the Oceania Cup. “The competition will be tough, but I’m ready to give it my all and represent Fiji. I’ve been training hard, and I’m determined to succeed. Let’s see what the trials bring,” he added.

As Kelevi approaches the trials with unwavering determination, he is committed to securing a place on the final team and realizing his dream.
