The Keiyasi Town Development Project is on track, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by October 2025. Maciu Nalumisa, the Minister for Housing and Local Government, confirmed this during a recent site visit where he assessed the progress with contractors involved in the project.
Phase 1, which involves an investment of $10.4 million, is focused on critical civil works that will lay the groundwork for future development. The second phase will include the construction of important civic buildings and public amenities to serve the residents of Keiyasi and its neighboring areas.
Nalumisa emphasized the project’s significance, stating that it is a major priority for the Coalition Government. He noted, “This project is one of the key areas that the coalition government is currently focused on, aiming to bring services closer to communities and promote regional development in areas like Nadroga-Navosa.”
The Keiyasi Town Development Project is anticipated to greatly enhance the local economy and contribute positively to the national GDP. The development will introduce a new town center, commercial and industrial sites, as well as facilities for essential services, including the National Fire Authority and various government agencies.
“This project will not only transform Keiyasi but will also elevate the surrounding regions by improving access to vital services and creating economic opportunities,” he added.
More than nine hectares of land have been designated for the project, which is part of the Ministry of Local Government’s urban planning and management initiative, designed to encourage regional growth and support local communities.
