Keiyasi Town Development Project on Track to Transform Local Economy by 2025

The Keiyasi Town Development Project is on track, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by October 2025. Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, confirmed this during a recent site visit where he evaluated the project’s progress with contractors.

Phase 1, which has an investment of $10.4 million, focuses on critical civil works required to prepare for the subsequent phase of development. Phase 2 will see the construction of important civic buildings and public amenities for the residents of Keiyasi and nearby areas.

Nalumisa emphasized the project’s significance, stating that it is a top priority for the Coalition Government. He noted, “This project is one of the key areas that the coalition government is working on right now to bring services closer to communities and promote areas around Fiji, allowing residents not to travel to main urban centers, especially in the two provinces of Nadroga-Navosa.”

The completion of the Keiyasi Town Development Project is anticipated to greatly enhance the local economy and contribute to the national GDP. The development plan includes a new town center, along with commercial and industrial sites, and facilities for essential services such as the National Fire Authority (NFA) and other government agencies.

“This project will not only transform Keiyasi but will also uplift the surrounding regions by improving access to essential services and economic opportunities,” he added. Over nine hectares of land has been designated for this project, which forms part of the Ministry of Local Government’s urban planning and management initiative, aimed at promoting regional development and supporting local communities.
