Keiyasi Town Development: A New Future on the Horizon!

The Keiyasi Town Development Project is on track, with Phase 1 anticipated to be completed by October 2025. Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, confirmed this timeline during a recent site visit, where he met with contractors to assess the project’s progress.

The initial phase of the project encompasses an investment of $10.4 million, primarily focused on essential civil works designed to prepare the site for subsequent developments. Phase 2 will entail the construction of important civic buildings and public facilities that will serve both Keiyasi residents and those in nearby areas.

Nalumisa emphasized the project’s significance, noting that it is a priority for the Coalition Government. He stated, “This project is one of the key areas that the coalition government is currently working on to bring services closer to communities and promote development in regions of Fiji, reducing the need for residents to travel to main urban centers, particularly in the provinces of Nadroga-Navosa.”

The completion of the Keiyasi Town Development Project is expected to considerably enhance the local economy and contribute positively to the national GDP. The development will introduce a new town center, alongside commercial and industrial sites, as well as facilities for essential services like the National Fire Authority (NFA) and various government agencies.

“This project will not only transform Keiyasi but also uplift surrounding regions by providing improved access to vital services and economic opportunities,” he added. The initiative has allocated over nine hectares of land, forming part of the Ministry of Local Government’s urban planning and management program, which aims to promote regional development and support local communities.
