Keiyasi Town Development: A New Era of Growth Awaits!

The Keiyasi Town Development Project is on track, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by October 2025. Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, confirmed this during a site visit where he met with contractors to assess progress.

Phase 1, which has an investment of $10.4 million, focuses on necessary civil works to prepare the site for subsequent development phases. Phase 2 will include the construction of important civic buildings and public amenities for the residents of Keiyasi and neighboring areas.

Nalumisa emphasized the project’s significance, noting that it is a top priority for the Coalition Government. He stated, “This project is one of the key areas that the coalition government is working on right now to bring services closer to communities and promote areas around Fiji where residents do not need to travel to the main urban centers, especially in the two provinces of Nadroga-Navosa.”

The completion of the Keiyasi Town Development Project is anticipated to greatly enhance the local economy and contribute to the national GDP. This development will feature a new town center, commercial and industrial sites, as well as facilities for essential services, including the National Fire Authority and various government agencies.

“This project will not only transform Keiyasi but will also uplift surrounding regions by providing improved access to essential services and economic opportunities,” he added. More than nine hectares of land have been designated for the project, part of the Ministry of Local Government’s urban planning and management program, which aims to promote regional development and support local communities.
