The Keiyasi Town Development Project is on track, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by October 2025. Minister for Housing and Local Government, Maciu Nalumisa, confirmed this during a recent site visit where he discussed the project’s progress with contractors.
This initial phase, involving an investment of $10.4 million, focuses on essential civil works needed to prepare the site for future developments. Phase 2 will include the construction of important civic buildings and public amenities for residents of Keiyasi and nearby areas.
Nalumisa emphasized the project’s significance, noting it as a top priority for the Coalition Government. He stated, “This project is one of the key areas that the coalition government is working on right now to bring services closer to the communities and to promote regions around Fiji, reducing the need for people to travel to main urban centers, especially in the Nadroga-Navosa provinces.”
The completion of the Keiyasi Town Development Project is anticipated to significantly enhance the local economy and contribute to the national GDP. The development will introduce a new town center, commercial and industrial spaces, and facilities for critical services, including the National Fire Authority and other government agencies.
“This project is not only going to transform Keiyasi but will also benefit surrounding regions by improving access to essential services and economic opportunities,” he added. Over nine hectares of land have been designated for this initiative, which is part of the Ministry of Local Government’s urban planning and management program aimed at encouraging regional development and supporting local communities.
