The Keiyasi Town Development Project is on track, with Phase 1 expected to be completed by October 2025. Housing and Local Government Minister Maciu Nalumisa confirmed this during a recent site visit, where he reviewed the project’s progress with contractors.
With an investment of $10.4 million, Phase 1 focuses on essential civil works to prepare the site for future developments. Phase 2 will include the construction of critical civic structures and public amenities, benefiting residents of Keiyasi and neighboring areas.
Nalumisa emphasized the significance of the project, identifying it as a top priority for the Coalition Government. He stated, “This project is one of the key areas that the coalition government is working on right now is to try and bring the services closer to the communities as well as also promote some areas around Fiji where people don’t need to go down to the main urban centers, especially here in the two provinces of Nadroga-Navosa.”
The completion of the Keiyasi Town Development Project is anticipated to greatly enhance the local economy and contribute to the national GDP. The development will feature a new town center, commercial and industrial sites, and facilities for essential services like the National Fire Authority (NFA) and other government agencies.
“This project is not only going to transform Keiyasi but it will also uplift the surrounding regions by providing better access to essential services and economic opportunities,” he added. Over nine hectares of land has been designated for this initiative, which is part of the Ministry of Local Government’s urban planning and management program focused on promoting regional development and supporting local communities.
