The Kaunikuila Basketball Club has made a noteworthy impression in New Caledonia during their recent tour, showcasing impressive performances against local teams. The club participated in the annual tournament hosted by the Olympic De Nouméa Basketball Club.
Under the leadership of president Ben Nasau, the girls’ team secured an admirable third place in the 5×5 competition and achieved a second-place finish in the 3×3 format. Meanwhile, the boys’ team also excelled, ending up in second place in both competitions.
Nasau expressed immense pride in the team’s accomplishments, labeling the trip as a significant achievement for the Kaunikuila Basketball Club and a crucial step for basketball development in Fiji. He emphasized the importance of international exposure for players, stating that it fosters confidence, character, and the belief that they can compete at higher levels. The club returned home last week, carrying with it valuable experiences that are sure to inspire future growth in their basketball journey.
