The longstanding conflict between director Abhinav Kashyap and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has reignited, bringing forth new accusations. In a recent interview, Kashyap described Khan as a “criminal,” asserting that the actor’s substantial wealth and influence could not silence him or undermine his integrity. The filmmaker, who was at the helm of the hit film Dabangg in 2010, accused Khan of usurping creative control and creating an unwelcoming atmosphere, which ultimately led to Kashyap distancing himself from the movie’s sequel.
During his discussion with Bollywood Thikana, Kashyap took issue with Khan’s role as a soldier in the upcoming film Battle of Galwan, questioning the appropriateness of casting someone with a criminal background in such a position. He noted that it is disconcerting for a person labeled as a criminal to portray a heroic figure, emphasizing that Khan’s followers seem more troubled by his candid remarks than Khan himself.
Kashyap further posited that Khan’s frustration stems from his inability to influence him. “That’s his problem, that his money is of no use here. I am not for sale. He can’t buy me,” Kashyap stated, clarifying that his comments arise from a commitment to truth rather than personal vendetta.
In response to the criticism, Salman Khan appeared to address Kashyap in a recent episode of Bigg Boss 19 without naming him directly. The actor ridiculed Kashyap’s lack of recent cinematic success, speculating on whether he has found any work lately and advising him to focus on his family instead of venting his frustrations at others. Khan concluded with a reflective remark, mentioning, “You want to bring me on my knees, but I do that every day for God.”
This feud traces its roots back to the original release of Dabangg, where Kashyap alleged that he was sidelined by the Khan family, including Salman, Arbaaz, and Sohail, who he claims manipulated the project in their favor. Over the years, Kashyap has expressed concerns about their alleged professional sabotage and hostile tactics within the film industry.
As tensions flare between the two parties, the incident highlights the ongoing challenges within Bollywood, where creative control, integrity, and personal grievances often collide. The public’s reaction to this feud and its impact on both Kashyap’s and Khan’s careers remains to be seen, but for now, the drama adds another chapter to Bollywood’s intricate narrative. It is a poignant reminder of the complex dynamics at play in the film industry, where personal conflict cannot only affect relationships but also influence the creative landscape of cinema.
