The 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season may mark the end of Vuate Karawalevu’s journey with the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua. The 24-year-old utility back is considering a move to the French Top 14 club, Castres, where he could potentially join forces with fellow Fijians Leone Nakarawa and Vilimoni Botitu.

Karawalevu joined the Drua in August 2023 after making his debut for the Flying Fijians during the Pacific Nations Cup, and he has since been a notable player on the field, participating in six matches and scoring four tries. Currently, he is focused on the Drua’s performance, especially after a disappointing 14-31 loss against the Crusaders, which he acknowledged, stating it was tough given the high expectations the fans have for the team.

Reflecting on the challenges, Karawalevu remarked on the physicality and pace at the Super Rugby level, commending the Crusaders for their strong performance. Despite contemplating his future, he remains dedicated to representing Fiji when called upon and aims to finish the current season on a high note.

In addition to his time with the Drua, Karawalevu has a diverse rugby background, having played for the Kaiviti Silktails in the Ron Massey Cup and the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup. He also made significant contributions to the Fiji Bati at the 2021 Rugby League World Cup and had a brief stint with the NSW Waratahs.

Karawalevu expressed that any decisions regarding his future will be finalized only when everything is confirmed. He highlighted his pride in representing his home team and assured fans of his commitment to performing well while he is still with the Drua.

This transition for Karawalevu offers an exciting chapter in his career, and his performance in the remainder of the season could influence not only his future but also the Fijian rugby landscape as he continues to make strides both locally and internationally.
