Kamikamica’s Western Division Insights: A Closer Look at Economic Growth

Divisional Commissioner of the Western Division, Apolosi Lewaqai, held discussions today with Manoa Kamikamica, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperative, MSMEs & Communications, during his ongoing tour of the region.

During their meeting, the Commissioner’s office presented an overview of key economic activities in the western region, which encompass tourism, sugar production, non-sugar agriculture, mining, bottled water manufacturing, international gateways, mini-hydro projects, and pine forestry.

The office also pointed out significant achievements, including the completion of Rural Housing Assistance programs and community engagement in tackling pressing issues such as drug abuse, urban migration, HIV/AIDS, and land disputes.

Furthermore, Commissioner Lewaqai emphasized the need to enhance the Integrated Rural Development Framework (IRDF) to better empower Divisional Commissioners in their coordination roles.

As part of his second day of touring the western division, DPM Kamikamica is set to visit several organizations, including the Nadi Town Council, Fiji Airways, Mindpearl Fiji, Challenge Group of Companies Ltd, Michelly Investment Ltd, and Amex Resources (Fiji) Ltd.
