Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has dismissed allegations circulating on social media about political interference in the appointment of Barbara Malimali as the Commissioner of FICAC.

In an interview, Kamikamica described the social media claims as absurd and offensive to the Judicial Services Commission, an independent entity led by the Acting Chief Justice. He expressed disappointment that the individual making the claims is located overseas, suggesting that she would have faced legal action if she were in Fiji.

Kamikamica remarked, “It is unfortunate that people would take her seriously as a reliable source. It’s disappointing that she is hiding abroad; otherwise, she would have been sued.”
