Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade Manoa Kamikamica has dismissed social media allegations suggesting political interference in the appointment of Barbara Malimali as the Commissioner of FICAC.

In an interview, Kamikamica described these claims as absurd and disrespectful to the Judicial Services Commission, which operates independently under the guidance of the Acting Chief Justice. He expressed disappointment that the individual making these accusations is based overseas, stating that she would have faced legal action had she been in Fiji.

Kamikamica remarked, “Her claims are ridiculous. I am saddened that anyone would consider her a reliable source. It’s unfortunate she is hiding abroad; otherwise, she would have already faced a lawsuit.”
