The Kaiviti Silktails, based in Lautoka, have unveiled their new jerseys and kits for the 2025 season, signaling an energizing phase for the team and its fans. This launch is bolstered by a new partnership with Star Hospitality Company PTE Limited and their iconic brand, Cougar.

During the jersey handover, Anand Kumar, the director of Star Hospitality, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “It’s an opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of young Fijian rugby league players while supporting the development of the sport in the region.” Kumar emphasized that this partnership underscores their commitment to nurturing talent and excellence in sports, and bringing significant pride to the Cougar brand.

Kumar highlighted the fulfillment of having Cougar’s logo showcased prominently on the Silktails’ jerseys, reflecting not just quality and performance but also the drive to empower athletes with the best gear. He pointed out that with the Silktails competing in Australia, this partnership will enhance their visibility and Cougar’s presence within the rugby community.

He remarked on the cultural significance of rugby in Fiji, noting, “Rugby is more than just a sport in Fiji; it is a way of life and a source of national pride.” The Silktails have taken on important roles as role models for aspiring players in the country, and Kumar sees the collaboration as a means to nurture this talent further.

The partnership aligns with the Silktails’ ongoing efforts to elevate Fijian rugby, a sentiment echoed by the Silktails Chairman, Petero Civoniceva, who officially welcomed Cougar as the team’s official kit supplier for a three-year duration. Celebrating the club’s 5th anniversary, Civoniceva noted the pride in wearing a locally designed and produced kit. This local focus aligns with the club’s charter to provide opportunities for both Fijian players and businesses.

As the team prepares for upcoming competitions, the synergy created by this partnership has the potential to significantly impact the future of rugby in Fiji. Kumar expressed hope for the continued growth of Fijian rugby, stating, “We look forward to witnessing the continued growth of Fijian rugby together.”

Overall, the partnership between the Kaiviti Silktails and Cougar not only embodies local pride and aspirations but also demonstrates a strategic move to enhance athlete development and community engagement in Fijian rugby. This cooperative effort is a positive indicator of the sport’s evolving landscape in Fiji and holds promising prospects for young athletes in the region.
