The Y-Is Kava Vacalea Kadavu team has continued to showcase their resilience at the ongoing RC Manubhai Nataleira Rugby 7s tournament in Nausori, despite the fatigue weighing on the young players. Coming from different villages in Kadavu, the team has impressively remained undefeated throughout their pool matches.

Their competition performances include a 7-all draw with the Dominion Brothers, a notable victory over Kombat Ulunikau with a score of 12-5, and a solid 12-0 defeat of Bureta Young Boys in Tier 2 of the men’s tournament. Although the schedule has been demanding, with back-to-back tournaments, the team’s spirit remains high.

Team manager Savenaca Tokavai remarked on the journey the team has faced. “This is our seventh tournament together as a team. We’ve been playing since the first Fiji Bitter 7s series in Kadavu, and we just finished the Wairiki 7s last week. It’s been a long road, but we’re here, and the boys are still going strong because they love the game.”

As they prepare to compete against Supercool Vatukoro in the quarter-finals today, the team’s determination and passion for rugby shine through, providing a source of inspiration for young athletes.

This story is not just about a team overcoming fatigue but also about the love for the game and the commitment to growth and teamwork, which are universal themes in sports that resonate well beyond the tournament grounds. Moreover, such dedication from young athletes serves as a reminder of the importance of perseverance and teamwork in all walks of life.
