The TEMC Birdland Kadavu rugby team is determined to secure the under-18-21 title as a heartfelt Christmas gift for their families back home on Kadavu. Following a dominant 31-0 victory over the Village Boys in their opening pool match, the team is eager to avenge their recent defeat in the Fiji Bitter Yalovata Lomaiviti 7s tournament.
Captain Ratu Lacavukivuki Bainivalu highlighted that many players on the team had to discontinue their education, and they intend to use their rugby skills to create opportunities for their futures and support their families. He expressed the team’s ambition to emerge victorious despite the strong competition they face from other teams in the tournament.
Bainivalu acknowledged the dedication required, stating, “We would like to win; however, there are other teams that would like to win as well. We are going to work hard to win so that we could give our families back home a Christmas present.” The team is competing in Pool Three alongside BLK Lavidi, VDM Black Heron, Roots Exile, and Nasolo.
This heartfelt commitment by the TEMC Birdland Kadavu team showcases the unifying power of sports and the lengths athletes will go to support their loved ones, especially during the festive season. Their focus on hard work and teamwork not only speaks to their dedication to the game but also their profound connection to family and community.
As they continue their journey in the tournament, the hope remains that they will achieve their goal, bringing joy and pride to Kadavu during this Christmas season.
