The Kadavu Stallions women’s rugby team is gearing up for another victory in this week’s Fiji Bitter Malake 7s competition at the Narauyaba Sports Ground in Rakiraki. After achieving a commanding 43-0 victory over the Deuba Rebels to win the Kadavu 7s championship last weekend, the team is intent on maintaining their winning momentum.
Team manager Josevata Rove remains cautious despite the recent triumph, highlighting that there is still much to accomplish. “The game has just begun; we don’t want to get ahead of ourselves after the weekend’s win. The girls still have work to do,” Rove stated.
He noted that the recent Kadavu 7s featured four teams, whereas the upcoming Malake 7s will include eight teams, posing a greater challenge. “We are facing some strong teams and experienced players in this competition,” Rove added.
The team has been focusing on enhancing their ball-carrying and tackling skills, areas they previously recognized as weaknesses. Rove praised the girls for their hard work and commitment during the Kadavu 7s and expressed gratitude for each player’s contributions as they look ahead to the exciting matches in the Malake 7s tournament.
