Kadavu Rugby’s Quest for Glory

TACKLE Kadavu is aiming for a quarter-final spot in the FMF Suva Rugby Union’s Escott Shield competition. The team secured its third win after round six, defeating USP 23-3 at the USP grounds in Laucala Bay, Suva.

“Every week we remind the boys of the importance of putting in the hard work at training and being prepared physically, mentally, and spiritually for whichever opponent we have to face,” head coach Ratu Nacani Turaganivalu said.

“We came into this match knowing USP very well, having had three scrimmage sessions with them. We managed to beat them in all three sessions, but we still play to win and never take complacency as an option.”

With three wins and three losses, Kadavu’s remaining three games are crucial for securing a place in the quarter-finals. “To qualify for the top four, we must win all remaining matches. This is our first season in the Escott Shield after 13 long years. We did the hard work in the Koroturaga Shield last season and must continue the momentum at the top level,” Turaganivalu added.

The team features players from Kadavu, Lau, Naitasiri, Ra, and Tailevu.
