The Kadavu Rugby Union is making strides in its efforts to advance rugby on the island, having met recently with Fiji Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu to enhance cooperation between the Union and the Fiji Police Force.
During the meeting, Commissioner Tudravu praised the Kadavu Rugby Union for its proactive stance in utilizing sport to positively influence the youth. He expressed the official support of the Fiji Police Force, emphasizing rugby’s role in steering young people away from illegal activities and fostering stronger, healthier communities.
“Our goal is to see the young people of Kadavu excelling on the rugby pitch and contributing to their communities, rather than being lured into the cycle of illegal activities,” he stated. The Commissioner noted that both the Kadavu Rugby Union and the Fiji Police Force are devoted to ensuring a bright, resilient, and drug-free future for Kadavu.
This partnership marks a promising development for rugby on the island, as both organizations are dedicated not just to achieving success in sports but also to establishing pathways for youth to flourish in all aspects of life. Looking ahead, Kadavu is set to make its debut in the Skipper Cup competition this year, further boosting the sport’s profile and the community’s engagement in positive activities. This initiative could lead to greater opportunities for young athletes in Kadavu, reinforcing the belief that sports can be a powerful tool for social change and community building.
