Kadavu Kicks Off Exciting New Fiji Bitter Sevens Series!

The Fiji Bitter Sevens Series is set to take place in Kadavu this October, marking the beginning of an exciting new season for grassroots rugby players in the region. The Kadavu Rugby Union will host the inaugural tournament, now branded as the Kadavu 7s, transitioning from the previous Namalata format to the Tiliva 7s tournament.

Scheduled for October 3-5, the tournament will occur at the Namalata Central School ground, maintaining the venue but adopting the new Tiliva 7s banner. Paradise Beverage’s sponsorship and events specialist, Alfaio Tekavei, highlighted that this is the first year Tiliva 7s will be officially sponsored by Fiji Bitter, strengthening the event’s connection to the local rugby culture.

The series was officially launched on Tuesday at Paradise Beverages in Walu Bay. General manager Mike Spencer announced the return of twelve tournaments in this year’s Fiji Bitter 7s Series, which consists of six legs with two tournaments each, spanning from October to March. The entire investment for this year’s series exceeds $300,000.

The series will culminate in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s scheduled for March next year at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. The planned tournament dates are as follows: Kadavu 7s: October 3-5, Malake 7s: October 10-12, Mataso 7s: November 15-16, Yalovata 7s: November 21-23, Yasawa 7s: December 6-7, Wairiki 7s: December 11-14, Labasa 7s: January 9-11, Savusavu 7s: January 16-18, Nahehevia 7s: February 13-15, Tabadamu 7s: February 20-22, Nawaka 7s: March 20-22, and Marist 7s: March 27-29.
