Kadavu Kicks Off Exciting Fiji Bitter Sevens Series!

The Fiji Bitter Sevens Series is set to take place in the southern region as Kadavu prepares to host its first tournament in October. This series aims to be an exciting platform for grassroots players across the islands.

The Kadavu Rugby Union will be organizing the inaugural tournament under the new banner of the Kadavu 7s, which replaces the previous Namalata event, known as the Tiliva 7s tournament. Scheduled for October 3-5, the matches will continue to be held at the Namalata Central School ground.

Alfaio Tekavei, a sponsorship and events specialist at Paradise Beverages, announced that the Tiliva 7s have been independently running for several years, even before the pandemic, and this will be their first sponsorship by Fiji Bitter. “We believe this alignment will better serve the rugby community in Kadavu,” he remarked.

The series was officially launched on Tuesday at Paradise Beverages in Walu Bay. General manager Mike Spencer detailed that this year’s Fiji Bitter 7s Series will feature 12 tournaments, divided into six legs with two tournaments each, spanning from October to March. An investment of over $300,000 has been allocated for the series.

The series will culminate in the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s in March next year at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
