K9 officers successfully tracked down and arrested a man involved in an alleged burglary in Taveuni last night. Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, mentioned that the Taveuni Police Station received a report of a break-in at an estate, prompting the deployment of a K9 team.
Upon arrival at the scene, the K9 officers were able to locate the suspect, leading to an arrest and the recovery of items believed to have been stolen. The suspect is currently in custody as investigations proceed.
ACP Driu emphasized that as the festive season approaches, K9 units will assist in divisional operations by conducting both mobile and foot patrols. He urged property owners to take necessary security precautions, pointing out that some burglary cases have involved no signs of forced entry, indicating that doors or windows may have been left unlocked.
“The Fiji Police Force urges everyone to remain vigilant concerning their security, as being cautious is the most effective way to deter criminal activity and opportunistic behavior,” Driu stated.
