K9 Sniffs Out Drug Bust in Navua

Last night, the Fiji Police Force apprehended a man from Navua for possessing illegal drugs following a thorough search of his home. This operation was conducted in partnership with the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), utilizing a search warrant to investigate the premises.

The police deployed K9 Herb, a specially trained drug detection dog, during the operation. K9 Herb successfully indicated multiple areas of interest, leading officers to discover 171 dried plants, suspected to be marijuana, hidden in several locations, including underneath a mattress, inside a wardrobe, and beneath a kitchen table.

The suspect has been taken into police custody while investigations are ongoing, shedding light on the continuous efforts of law enforcement in Fiji to combat drug-related crimes. Similar operations have occurred in the region, including recent crackdowns at Port Mua-i-Walu, demonstrating a proactive approach to addressing the issue of drug trafficking.
